Lisa has donated signed, first edition, hardcover copies of all four Spellman books to the 2010 Online Auction for Diabetes Research, run by author Brenda Novak.

The bidding starts on May 1st and runs through the month of May. Here is what Brenda has to say about the auction:

Every year, in the month of May, I run my online auction for Diabetes Research. The auction takes a full year to plan and pull off, but it’s a labor of love—for all the people who, like my son, suffer from diabetes. . . . Last year, we had another record-breaking year, coming in at $269,111. With all previous years combined we’ve raised well over three-quarters of a million dollars.

If you’d like to bid on Lisa’s books, you can go directly to that page here. Also, check out the other items by clicking on the banner below.

It actually tied for #15, so it was in the printed edition. And it came in #9 on the Los Angeles Times Hardcover Best Seller’s list for April 4th. Very exciting!

There are still a number of places where you can catch Lisa on her book tour. If you were planning to attend the event in San Francisco on April 9th at Book Passage at the Ferry Building, note that the time is actually 6pm (not 7pm). Hope to see you there if you’re in the Bay Area. And if you’re in Texas (Houston or Dallas), she’s heading your way tomorrow!

In the post Lisa talks about how the storyline (of Free Schmidt!) in The Spellmans Strike Again came to be.

As she writes:

Recently someone asked me why I became interested in the subject of wrongful convictions. I found that I didn’t really have an answer. The subject has always been on my radar, as far as I recall. It’s the kind of question that should be answered with a question: How can you not be? Read post at the Innocence Blog.

Thanks to the ABA for including The Spellmans Strike Again on The April 2010 Indie Next List Great Reads. Anne McMahon, of Boswell Book Company in Milwaukee, WI, writes the review:

“The fourth . . . installment of the Spellman Quartet finds the Spellmans spying on each other more than they are for their clients. Mom is keeping tabs on Isabel’s dates in the hopes that she’ll get married. The kids want to know why parts of the house are disappearing. Could someone really be stealing doorknobs and light fixtures? Lutz has written a quirky and sometimes bizarre tale that’s definitely good for a laugh.”
