The article, by Cheryl Solimini, entitled: Lisa Lutz: The Last of the Spellmans? Everyone’s favorite family of private eyes returns—for now, is definitely worth checking out. You can find copies at your local mystery bookstore, or order or subscribe online directly through the Mystery Scene website.

Speaking of mystery bookstores, here’s a photo of Lisa with a small army of Free Schmidt! supporters during her annual visit to the Seattle Mystery Bookshop back on April 1st. It’s always a fun celebration with cake! Check out Lisa’s guest blog post from her visit there as well!

New York Times Best Seller’s List: The Spellmans Strike Again!

The Spellmans Strike Again debuted at #16 on the New York Times Hardcover Fiction Best Seller’s list today. It actually tied for #15, so it was in the printed edition. And it came in #9 on the Los Angeles Times Hardcover Best Seller’s list for April 4th. Very exciting!

There are still a number of places where you can catch Lisa on her book tour. If you were planning to attend the event in San Francisco on April 9th at Book Passage at the Ferry Building, note that the time is actually 6pm (not 7pm). Hope to see you there if you’re in the Bay Area. And if you’re in Texas (Houston or Dallas), she’s heading your way tomorrow!

Brief report from the VIWF

If you ever have a chance to go to the Vancouver International Writers’ Festival, do it. It was great. I also recommend going to Vancouver even without any festival. But I was there for a festival, so I’ll talk about that.

I was on two panels with Linda L. Richards, author of Death Was the Other Woman and the editor of January Magazine, a great online books-and-authors ezine. Anyway, I was going to blog about the events, but Linda has already done it better than I could, so I’m just going to be lazy and link to her post, High Class Complaints.

Also, I did one more event in Vancouver, called the Literary Cabaret, featuring Sal Ferreras and his band. The actor and author Stephen E. Miller was kind enough to perform with me. Here’s a picture:

The other highlight of the weekend was chatting with the widely acclaimed author Amitav Ghosh, whose novel Sea of Poppies was shortlisted for the 2008 Booker Prize. We discussed intricate literary matters such as our mutual affection for the film “What About Bob?”

Fortunately coffee and cake go well together.
